Sea Glass Flowers

Spring always brings me new ideas of pretty things to make. This weekend I’m making some wonderful copper flowers. They are quick and easy to make, and each of them is adorable in their own way – just like beach glass! Some of the flowers are small, and designed to wear as pendants. Some are larger and would look great on the rear view mirror in your car. Some have sea glass and some simply have a pretty swirl of copper wire in the center instead!

The little green one pictured about measures about 1 1/4″ across. It’s a nice, delicate size to wear as a pendant. These can be purchased in my Etsy shop, and later this summer I plan to have an instructional PDF available, as well as a kit containing wire and sea glass, so you can learn to make your own!

Today is one of those lovely days when I have nothing on the to-do list except for feeding dogs and being creative. I love these days! The weather cooperated to let me take some pictures of the flowers to share with all of you.

My creative process goes something like this….play with wire…twist into a shape…fiddle with the wire and the look of the prototype….try a different gauge of wire….decide whether or not to add sea glass (I usually do)……..make a dozen more…..make a variation of them.

The variation of the flowers was to add a stem! Some of them have long stems, so they can be poked into a tall vase. Others have wire leaves added to their stem. Some are sized to fit perfectly into a paperback book or tucked into your hair!

These would look cute in a vase, grouped as a bouquet, stuck into a houseplant to keep it company, or used as a bookmark! Can you think of any more uses for them?

If you’d like to see these in person, they will be available at Pop Up Handicrafts in the Old Bag Factory in Goshen, IN by late afternoon on Saturday, June 3rd.

If you’d like to see my other work in person, visit Pop Up Handicrafts, Artesano Boutique (in Fort Walton Beach, Florida) or Make South Bend, in the River Park area of South Bend, IN.
